Several years ago, as I reimmersed myself in photography, I found an amazing group of supportive creatives on the photosharing website Flickr. It was a unique experience of that time and place. But many moved on to new endeavors and platforms, such as Facebook. So last year, when a sweet soul reached out to a bunch of Flickr alumni and others asking what personal projects we might be considering for the new year, it sparked an exciting conversation — that turned into a collaboration. From this animated messaging exchange The Hours was born. Over 30 (women) photographers, photographing during the same hour of the day each month. We started in January at 7am and walked round the clock to December and 6pm. The participants spanned the globe and we shared our view of it. I’m so happy to share a look a my year in review, and I’m eager to start again this January.
